Recent good things (4/8/25)
Here are things that made my life better recently!
Private Rites by Julia Armfield
This is an incredible book that I haven't been able to stop thinking about since I read it. Loosely based on King Lear, it's the story of 3 sisters (all queer!) living in a constantly raining, flooded world in the near future, dealing with the aftermath of their enstranged father's death. The prose is beautiful, the horror elements are gripping, and I just loved it so much.
Julia Armfield's other novel, Our Wives Under the Sea, similarly stuck with me for a long time after I read it, so I really recommend you read both of them!
Flow
Apparently I've been really into stories about floods lately. This one is so sweet, and the visuals are stunning. I just really love animals, so I absolutely loved it. The ending made me cry a ton, if we're being honest. I'm really glad it won the Oscar, the team absolutely deserved it!
A music implementation marathon stream during which I also fundraised for Trans Lifeline
All of Divinuet's card themes are now implemented in the game, and my viewers generously donated $300 to Trans Lifeline! It was tiring but so, so good.
If you're sad that you missed me slowly losing my mind as I spent 5 straight hours streaming Wwise and Unity stuff, you can watch the VOD here!
This gnocchi I got at Caro Mio here in Chicago
Hell yeah
